Meet our Leaders

The Road Ahead Family Services aims to protect children at risk or victims of abuse, neglect or abandonment. Our goal is to strengthen and stabilize families and the communities they live in; to help young people break the cycle of abuse and neglect.

Many services provided to children only help heal the child from past abuse but do little to prevent or change the environment in which the abuse happens. Children often times are unable to return to the care of their parents as the parents lack the skills to raise them in a safe, loving environment. When The Road Ahead Family Services was founded, the primary goal was to close the gap between needs of families and the success of providing children with loving, healthy homes.

Providing social services support is key to fulfilling The Road Ahead Services’ mission to address the physical and emotional well-being of children and families. The Road Ahead’s “Relationship Empowered Approach” is geared to helping families reunite and is heal from past trauma. As such, our team focuses on the seamless transition among our programs for children that have been detained (or at risk of detention), the biological families, and the foster parents alike.  Our main goal is to become a system of change empowered by the relationship of the members. We work closely with the DCFS social worker, support teams (such as Wraparound, Regional Center or TBS), the parents, the child and all the natural resources that family has to support their success

Bilingual service providers also ensure that children and their families have the support they need to address acculturation and separation issues common among new immigrant youth.

The Road Ahead Family Services is licensed by the State of California to provide foster care services and mental health services and meets the needs of our community by offering low cost services, sliding scale and multiple service discounts, as well as in home services.

The Road Ahead Family Services’ mental health clinic provides children and families with confidential individual and family counseling, group therapy, emergency assessments, referrals, and crisis intervention by licensed and license eligible psychotherapists. In addition our Mental Health staff is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TFCBT) to assist children and families that have been affected by traumatic events that interfere with their daily functioning.

We have been successful in helping families understand the needs of their children through group therapy, psychoeducation on development and attachment, groups for victims of domestic violence, parenting skills, and sexual abuse awareness. Helping the parents become whole, leads to their ability to raise “whole children”. Children belong in their homes and there is no attachment more important than that of the parent-child bond.
